"I believe that when you shine a light on good, it gives us all a chance to be inspired do more of that. When you shine a light on the bad things in life, it can inspire us to make a change in a better direction. We hope to do that and also hopefully entertain along the way."
Sonia Machado-Hines is a director, producer, writer, and co-founder of Black++Productions. Born and partially raised in Havana, she brings a love of many cultures to her filmmaking and her support of other artists.
Her first film, Karbouj, was a dramatic short filmed primarily in Beirut that explores family ties through cooking. Since then, she has completed dozens of original narrative and documentary short films as well as feature films with a personal perspective and a commitment to collaboration.
